ONYX Is Building a Utopia for Movement

ONYX Hybrid Training Club is building a world where training, fashion, and community are treated as parts of the same system. Based in Los Angeles, the brand has developed an identity around discipline, protection, and physical preparation, using technical clothing and controlled campaign imagery to imagine what performance culture can become.

At the center of ONYX is the phrase Constructed For All Conditions. It appears across the clothing, but it also explains the philosophy behind the brand. The idea is not simply to create garments that can withstand different environments. It is to create people who can do the same. Training becomes a process of building resilience, while clothing becomes part of the uniform worn through that process.

That relationship between the body and the garment shapes nearly everything ONYX produces. The clothing is technical, but it does not follow the familiar language of streamlined running kits or conventional gym apparel. Instead, ONYX works with oversized proportions, reflective materials, sculpted hoods, heavy footwear, and utilitarian accessories that make the wearer look protected and prepared.

The reflective silver trousers are one of the clearest examples of this direction. Cut with significant volume through the leg and tightened at the ankle, they create a silhouette that feels architectural rather than purely athletic. Paired with a pale blue technical jacket, black mesh bag, and heavy treaded boots, the look feels built for movement while still carrying the weight of a complete fashion statement.

The hooded jackets have become another defining part of the ONYX visual language. Their face framing openings create a silhouette that feels protective, anonymous, and almost industrial. In silver, the construction appears futuristic. In red, photographed during resistance training, it becomes more physical and immediate. The same design shifts in character depending on color, movement, and environment.

ONYX is not taking activewear and styling it to appear fashionable. It is treating movement itself as a starting point for fashion. That distinction can be seen throughout the campaigns, where training equipment, technical fabrics, exaggerated silhouettes, and carefully controlled styling all exist within the same visual language.

Faces are often hidden through hoods, shadows, eyewear, and tight framing, moving attention away from the individual and toward the larger identity of the brand. The wearer becomes part of a collective rather than the center of the image.

The campaign settings are similarly restrained. Black backdrops, white studios, concrete walls, kettlebells, benches, and resistance bands create a controlled environment where the garments remain the focus. The training equipment gives the imagery purpose, while the styling pushes it beyond standard fitness advertising.

In one of the strongest looks, a high collared technical jacket is paired with fitted leggings, gloves, a crossbody bag, sculptural sunglasses, and tall boots. The combination brings together performance wear, tactical clothing, and fashion without treating them as separate categories. The result feels less like activewear styled for an editorial and more like a uniform for the utopia they’re trying to build.
